I hate chain letters but had to share this with you!

Pat Sutton | June 16th, 2010 - 4:43 pm

“A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o’clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.
His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.
As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window. I love it,’ he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.

Mr. Jones, you haven’t seen the room; just wait.’

‘That doesn’t have anything to do with it,’ he replied.

Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time.

Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged … it’s how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it. ‘It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.

Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I’ve stored away.. Just for this time in my life.
Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you’ve put in.
So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories!
Thank you for your part in filling my Memory Bank. I am still depositing.

‘Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

7 Tips on writing good web copy.

Pat Sutton | April 26th, 2010 - 4:02 pm

1).

So what are the best attention grabbing headlines?

A good one has words relating to price for example: “Get Three for Only £3” and then there’s the special incentive headline, “Buy now before the price goes up!”

Another of the tried and tested headlines are specific questions that can relieve the reader’s “pain”: “Do You Need To Make More Money?” or “Are you sick of your job?”

Of course, if you offer a strong guarantee, you could say so in your headline: “Your Money Refunded, If You Don’t Make £10,000 In Your First Year” could be a good one, (if you like that sort of thing), or “Not fully satisfied? Get your money back”. [...]

10 business start up tips.

Pat Sutton | April 6th, 2010 - 4:02 pm

Before we get down to the 10 busines tips, I want to give you some important advice.
Before you start to trade, create a business plan. There are many great business plan templates available on the web, they’re not as difficult as you think.
The plan will tell you from the outset if your business is viable!
It will tell you how much money you will need to earn to make a profit and how much you need to charge for your services. Too many people take the “just think of a figure” approach and then are surprised when they can’t make ends meet.

Are You Really an Internet Marketing Professional?

Pat Sutton | April 5th, 2010 - 5:03 am

By Willie Crawford

Let me ask you a somewhat personal question today.

The answer to that question determines how you treat your on-line business, and dramatically impacts your chances of on-line success. That question is, “Are you really an Internet Marketing Professional?” Being a professional means that you view what you do as much more than just another job or a business.

It’s something you do because it’s your “calling. “It’s something you do because you believe that it’s what you were meant to do and because you believe that it helps to make the world a better place. Youdon’t have to view it as a permanent calling, but you do need to believe in the importance of what you do. If you don’t see what you’re doing as significant, then you should seek a different calling. I borrowed that definition of a profession… of a calling, from how I felt about my job when I was in the military. That was one of those jobs that you did because you felt that it was something that needed to be done.

Adsense is like “big brother” watching!

Pat Sutton | February 25th, 2010 - 6:28 pm

I had a great dream last night – it was about chocolate!
I actually dreamed I was writing for an advertising campaign. I even remember this poem from my dream…
“What does chocolate do for me?
It’s comfort food when you’re feeling low
It’s something to grab when you’re on the go
It’s smooth as silk
It’s made from milk
Comes in a box tied up with a bow….
Tacky eh!

The reason I’m telling you this is because it’s a great experiment to see if the Google adsense on my blog actually does start selling you chocolate. If it does…please let me know! Fun eh!

But seriously, aren’t these new technologies amazing! If we were living 100 years ago we’d be using the ducking stool rather a lot wouldn’t we?

Email Marketing using Auto Responders.

Pat Sutton | February 15th, 2010 - 5:49 pm

Sales letters through your letter box are hated by everyone. It’s unwanted, uninvited and fills your re-cycling bin. But it’s pretty clear that it’s also incredibly popular with advertisers. Why? Because while most potential customers throw away their junk letters with barely a glance, enough take action to make it all worthwhile.
They do buy—and in high enough numbers to more than cover the cost of those who don’t.

Email marketing is pretty similar, but with one important difference: on the Web, you can only send marketing emails to people who have already chosen to receive them. A bit tricky!

On the other hand, because those people have already chosen to receive your emails, you can be confident that they’re going to be interested in them.

So how do you get these valuable e-mail address? [...]

The best affiliates for your blog.

Pat Sutton | February 14th, 2010 - 9:24 am

A lot of people ask me to suggest affiliates. They want to know which ones are the most effective at monetising their blog. I suppose it would be safe to say that I have done a hell of a lot of research on this subject as bad choices can make the difference between a profitable blogging business and bad choices can mean no business at all.

It is a difficult one because it all depends on your target audience.
Of-course there are some great generic ones like Chitika which is an online advertising network which works a little like Adsense. For me Chitika far surpasses Adsense because not only can you earn with click throughs you can also earn a residual income for 15 months on your referrals earnings. [...]

How To Plan The Perfect Website!

Pat Sutton | February 9th, 2010 - 1:52 pm

According to Wikipedia – The Internet actually started in 1969, (yes, only 1969!), as the ARPANET, a Defense Department system designed to let survivors share files after a nuclear attack. From being available on just a handful of top secret computers, it’s grown to millions and millions of users.

And it’s still growing. According to a recent survey, the volume of Internet traffic is expected to double annually over the next five years. Consumers are expected to account for 70 percent of all Internet traffic over that period with the rest of the market made up of business users.

What does that mean for you?

It means customers—millions of them.

No other business tool can put the products you sell in front of so many people so easily. Nothing even comes close. [...]

The IPad – I want one.

Pat Sutton | January 31st, 2010 - 12:14 pm

I change my mobile every 6 or 7 months for no other reason than I fancy a change.

I buy something then use it for a little while then, when the novelty wears off, I sell it on Ebay.

If you were to look at my Ebay profile you would see that I actually admit to being a gadget freak.

I have been hankering for an e-book reader and have been doing some extensive research on them but I am so glad that I haven’t succumbed as I have fallen in love with the idea of having the new Apple IPad.

I have got to say that it’s one of my failings, I fall in love with the idea of having something but once I have it in my sticky hands there is always an anti-climax. I think the fun is in the chase and the more difficult it is to get the more excitement for me.

The one thing I hate doing is waiting, if I want something I want it now! I want the IPad, the one with all the bells and whistles but shock horror, I will have to wait until at least April 2010 for it – oh the pain!

Well according to the Apple website, it is going to beat netbooks and e-readers hands down….oooh can’t wait!
So watch this space for my honest review when I get it in my mits!
