I hate chain letters but had to share this with you!

Pat Sutton | June 16th, 2010 - 4:43 pm

“A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o’clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.
His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.
As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window. I love it,’ he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.

Mr. Jones, you haven’t seen the room; just wait.’

‘That doesn’t have anything to do with it,’ he replied.

Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time.

Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged … it’s how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it. ‘It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.

Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I’ve stored away.. Just for this time in my life.
Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you’ve put in.
So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories!
Thank you for your part in filling my Memory Bank. I am still depositing.

‘Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

7 Tips on writing good web copy.

Pat Sutton | April 26th, 2010 - 4:02 pm

1).

So what are the best attention grabbing headlines?

A good one has words relating to price for example: “Get Three for Only £3” and then there’s the special incentive headline, “Buy now before the price goes up!”

Another of the tried and tested headlines are specific questions that can relieve the reader’s “pain”: “Do You Need To Make More Money?” or “Are you sick of your job?”

Of course, if you offer a strong guarantee, you could say so in your headline: “Your Money Refunded, If You Don’t Make £10,000 In Your First Year” could be a good one, (if you like that sort of thing), or “Not fully satisfied? Get your money back”. [...]

10 business start up tips.

Pat Sutton | April 6th, 2010 - 4:02 pm

Before we get down to the 10 busines tips, I want to give you some important advice.
Before you start to trade, create a business plan. There are many great business plan templates available on the web, they’re not as difficult as you think.
The plan will tell you from the outset if your business is viable!
It will tell you how much money you will need to earn to make a profit and how much you need to charge for your services. Too many people take the “just think of a figure” approach and then are surprised when they can’t make ends meet.

Are You Really an Internet Marketing Professional?

Pat Sutton | April 5th, 2010 - 5:03 am

By Willie Crawford

Let me ask you a somewhat personal question today.

The answer to that question determines how you treat your on-line business, and dramatically impacts your chances of on-line success. That question is, “Are you really an Internet Marketing Professional?” Being a professional means that you view what you do as much more than just another job or a business.

It’s something you do because it’s your “calling. “It’s something you do because you believe that it’s what you were meant to do and because you believe that it helps to make the world a better place. Youdon’t have to view it as a permanent calling, but you do need to believe in the importance of what you do. If you don’t see what you’re doing as significant, then you should seek a different calling. I borrowed that definition of a profession… of a calling, from how I felt about my job when I was in the military. That was one of those jobs that you did because you felt that it was something that needed to be done.

Why are blog posts becoming a better tool for showcasing your products than websites?

Pat Sutton | March 23rd, 2010 - 2:00 pm

It is because blog posts provide the opportunity to promote, discuss and persuade in a gentle and informative way.
When people are reading a website they will skip things and will probably not read pages that are text ladenned.
Yet, strangely enough, they will read every word of a blog post, so it is better to do your pitch in a blog post than on a website.
Always remember that the blog post must contain something of value, the pitch should be secondary.
It is also much easier to include the keywords you need for search engine optimization, (SEO).

Create the desire so people buy from you!

Pat Sutton | March 14th, 2010 - 3:04 pm

The ‘desire’ portion of your profile is where you present the facts of your expertise and success; create and justify your prospect’s conviction and cause him to demand a piece of the action’ for himself. MPj04443420000[1]
It’s vitally necessary that you present proven facts because survey results show that at least 80% of the people reading your profile – especially those reading it for the first time – will tend to question its truthfullness. So, the more facts you can present, the more credible you will be.

As you write your profile, always remember that the more facts about “you” you present, the more products you’ll sell.
People want facts as reasons, and/or excuses for buying a product – to justify to themselves and others, that they have not been ‘taken’ by a slick copywriter. It’s like the girl who wants to marry the guy her father calls a ‘no good waster’, her heart – her emotions – tell her yes, but she needs to nullify the seed of doubt lingering in her mind – to rationalize her decision to go on with the wedding.

Adsense is like “big brother” watching!

Pat Sutton | February 25th, 2010 - 6:28 pm

I had a great dream last night – it was about chocolate!
I actually dreamed I was writing for an advertising campaign. I even remember this poem from my dream…
“What does chocolate do for me?
It’s comfort food when you’re feeling low
It’s something to grab when you’re on the go
It’s smooth as silk
It’s made from milk
Comes in a box tied up with a bow….
Tacky eh!

The reason I’m telling you this is because it’s a great experiment to see if the Google adsense on my blog actually does start selling you chocolate. If it does…please let me know! Fun eh!

But seriously, aren’t these new technologies amazing! If we were living 100 years ago we’d be using the ducking stool rather a lot wouldn’t we?

Just because you have a bad memory…..

Pat Sutton | February 24th, 2010 - 1:25 pm

….there’s no reason to be rude!
I have mailing lists going back many years and decided that I would have a clear out. I was afraid to just hit the delete button in case some of the people would still be interested in what I have to say.  So I decided to upload them into my mailing program in order to clean them of dead addresses and to give the people who were not on my wavelength the opportunity to un-subscribe.

WHAT A MISTAKE!

The mistake was not putting them into the program to clean the lists – the mistake was allowing people to comment when they un-subscribed.

“What the f… are you spamming me for?”  was one comment. “Go f… yourself” was another! (they actually put the real word in)
Can you believe, these are business people…people who make a living from their relationships with their customers!
