….there’s no reason to be rude!
I have mailing lists going back many years and decided that I would have a clear out. I was afraid to just hit the delete button in case some of the people would still be interested in what I have to say. So I decided to upload them into my mailing program in order to clean them of dead addresses and to give the people who were not on my wavelength the opportunity to un-subscribe.
WHAT A MISTAKE!
The mistake was not putting them into the program to clean the lists – the mistake was allowing people to comment when they un-subscribed.
“What the f… are you spamming me for?” was one comment. “Go f… yourself” was another! (they actually put the real word in)
Can you believe, these are business people…people who make a living from their relationships with their customers!
Ok, we all get annoyed with spammers, I get loads as you can imagine - but as long as it has a polite message with an un-subscribe option, I’ll just click the link and it’s forgotten.
Do you remember the days of real cold calling? Some poor guy would knock on your door with a case full of brushes or encyclopedias.
All I can think is that these RUDE people must be suffering from withdrawal symptoms from not being able to shut the door on some poor fellow’s foot, once in a while!
The other option could be that they have “Go f… yourself!” permanently on their clipboard, (or their forehead), ready to deal with all unwanted contact because to be honest I couldn’t be bothered typing it every time – could you?

Some people are just rude. Maybe their Mommies won’t let them use those naughty words so they have to take it out on someone.
Years ago I had a real estate customer I’d never met – a big name Attorney from out of state. He bought a little river cabin via the mail… knew all about it because it belonged to someone he knew so I never showed it. A few years later he decided to sell so we sold it and he showed up for the closing. I said I was glad to finally meet him in person and he looked at me… in front of a room full of people… and said “What, are you stupid. We met a couple years ago.”
He had another property to sell and I didn’t even ask for the listing. I don’t want anything to do with jerks like that.
Something else I think is way rude… is not letting people unsubscribe, or just not taking them off the list when they do. I’ve been getting so much “Hype mail” lately that I’m tired of hitting the delete button. So a few days ago I started an unsubscribe campaign. And only one of the places I unsubscribed from has stopped sending me mail.
Even worse – when I tried to unsubscribe from one today it required my user name and password. Huh? Why would I have a password for junk mail? A sneaky way to keep people on your list, but why do you want someone who doesn’t want you? I suppose it’s so you can show a big list to JV partners, but I think it stinks.
OK, now you got my rant too!
It is diplacemnt anger.
All busineesses need cusotmers and most successful businesses have effective marketing strategies which includes emails. Marketing is about finding people who might be interested in what you have to offer. Of course it can be frustrating to get unsolicited telephone calls at home and junk emails at work especially from the same people. As you say all you need to do is delete it if you arent interested!
People who behave in a way thats so disproportionate to the ‘action’ are usually dealing with anger management issues or anxiety and stress!
It has very little to do with you. They will be the ones giving the v signs or tooting their horns too! Just leave go of any ‘negative’ thoughts send them your blessings silently! They cannott affect you unless you allow them too. May you continue to attract all the business you want for your own happiness
