How to write a press release.
This is an example of a press release, (should always be in 3rd person).
65 year old grandmother is the new face of The Star Clinic.
The Star Clinic announced last night that a British grandmother, Sarah Lander, is to be the new face of their business.
Mike Saunders of Star believes Ms Lander personifies how women can change their lives by improving their looks.
Lander says of her new role: “I am very honoured to have been chosen to be the face of The Star Clinic.
1 year ago I was a 64 year old grandmother with a boring retirement to look forward to and now, thanks to the brilliant surgeons at The Star Clinic, I have a new face, a fantastic figure, new confidence and an exciting new life.”
Well done Sarah!
To see Sarah’s full story take a look at The Star Clinic’s website.
www.starclinic….. etc
Easy? Not so! The hard part is turning a boring story into something note worthy.
Take a step back and look at your business as a reporter would see it, he is only interested in an interesting story, he could care less about your business. He’s not interested in promoting you, he wants a story that will grab people’s attention.
So think of what you want to say and then spice it up, make it note worthy then give it a go.

Improve Google rankings and drive more targeted traffic to your website.
1. Include some text above the fold on every page of the website. The text should include important key words and phrases. These should be the words and phrases people would use to find you, find a way of integrating them into your copy.
2. You need to have links going out of your site to powerful sites like Wikipedia. This creates a loop for the search engine spiders.
3. You need a way of capturing site visitor’s email addresses.
A sign up box on the website with a free gift and an informative newsletter would be good. This would enable you to build a great list of prospective customers to market to via email. Your visitor needs to see that what you are offering is of good value as people are reluctant to give email addresses willy-nilly.
4. You must include a blog on your website.
The blog posts should not be about you or your business but about something helpful for the reader. Of-course it should be linked to your business, for instance if you are a garden landscaper then an article or blog about growing roses would be good but, obviously, a blog about baking a chocolate cake would not be. You need to engage with the reader, they need to see you as a leader and expert. Once they like and trust you they will then be more inclined to buy from you. The beauty of a blog is that it is so easy to syndicate through Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Ezines, Ecademy, Google+ etc. The idea is that the blog would draw targeted traffic back to your site, the posts would also include important key words and links that would be strategically placed to attract the search engines.
5. Twitter!
I know a lot of people think that Twitter is a waste of time, well, I promise you that it is not, if you do it right. First you need to build up a following, you do this by following people who could be your customers. Once you are following them then they will usually follow you back. A daily tweet containing great advice to followers who are your target audience can really boost your profile. If you have a good profile then people will see you in a good light and are more likely to buy from you.
6. Facebook Fan Pages.
Create a fan page with the same name as your business then set to work making friends and then inviting them to become fans of your page. Once you have a reasonable amount of members you can create a badge to upload onto your website. This creates a sense of community and will give confidence to your website visitors. Of-course you also have your fans to market to as well.
7. Relationships.
Join groups and forums to get to know people, (not to pitch to them), once they get to know you they will eventually ask you what you do or, even better, they will research you.
8. LinkedIn groups.
Join groups on LinkedIn, the free membership allows you to join up to 50 groups. Of-course you need to find groups of people who would be interested in your products. Once you have been accepted as a member you can upload your blog posts to their discussion pages. These are then sent out by the system to the group members in daily update e-mails. Some of the groups have memberships of thousands of people each, so your one article alone can get you enormous exposure.
One last word….you need to be the face of your business. People buy from people. There is a lot of competition out there so you need to have a unique selling point, if you can’t think of anything then it should be YOU and the way to build your profile is through social media.

10 quick, wicked blogging tips
1. Put your blog post into a list, like this one.
It keeps it neat and easy to read, (doesn’t look so onerous).
2. Put a lot of thought into the title of your blog post,
it needs to catch their attention.
3. Keep the introduction and conclusion short.
4. Don’t try to include too much info, keep the tips clear,
clean and concise and to the point.
5. Keep one post focused on one topic. If you have
several things you want to talk about then try writing
separate posts for each topic.
6. Write with a sincere desire to help your reader.
7. Don’t write an article that is basically just a
sales letter for your company. You can promote yourself,
un-ashamedly, in the signature at the end of the post.
8. When writing a good signature make sure it is good enough
to entice your reader to go to your site or request more
information from you.
9. Don’t forget to mention what you have coming in future posts
to encourage them to subscribe to your blog.
10. Give something away free. In the past I have offered a free
marketing email course. This gave me the opportunity to create a
relationship with my readers.

Ten ways to supercharge your business website.
1. First give something for free – you could add an interactive game to your web site. There are thousands of clever people out there who could build a game around your product.
2. Promote yourself as the face of your business. Be approachable, no “info@” emails. Let them contact you directly, if you are very busy you can still have a “gatekeeper” fielding the good ones from the crazy ones!
3. Be seen as an expert, write articles, ebooks, reports, etc.
If people see you are credible they will believe you when you talk about your products.
4. Make people feel at home on your website. Encourage them to come back even if they are not buying this time. You do this by keeping everything current and up to date. Link to articles that may be of interest to your customer, fashion, film or even business news today, not static articles from last year or last month but what’s happening now.
5. Train your employees to deal with customers in a consistent, polite manner, we all love email but the phone is the only way to really close a sale if your customer is reluctant.
6. Testimonials by real people are worth their weight in gold. Don’t just attribute them to “Jane from Manchester”, ask your satisfied customers if they wouldn’t mind having their business contact details published. Most people would love to have their business name on a busy website.
7. Don’t forget to up-sell. Maybe there is a deluxe version of your product that may work better for them.
8. Even if they don’t buy from you, try to, at least, get their email address by offering a free ebook or some other gift if they join your mailing list.
9. Once you have their email address you can keep them informed of special offers and events, many online businesses survive purely on selling to their email list, don’t miss this chance.
10. Create a sense of urgency on your website or in your email marketing. Tell them of a limited time offer or a free bonus.

How I make money with my blog.
Your blog must have a niche, don’t be a Jack of all trades and a master of none!
Maybe your niche is where you have expertise, or maybe it is linked to your trade or business. You must make sure it’s a popular enough subject that people will want to read it and it will drive lot’s of traffic to your website.
My topics of Internet Marketing and Web Celeb Building have a much broader appeal but also places me in a big sector. As they say, is it better to be a BIG fish…..?
Where income is concerned, think big, think multiple streams.
Here’s 6 examples of how I generate an income from my blogs.
1.)
Last year, I was approached by a company called LinkLift. They asked me to add some keywords to a blog post that would then link to another website. They would give me a couple of words or a phrase, an example could be “money for gold” and I would write a blog with the words in the exact same format into my post. OK, I did struggle with getting the words to sit in the post satisfactorily but once written, that blog post earned me £17 a month just for being there.
When I saw the potential of this I popped onto their website and registered my other websites and at the moment I am earning a nice £50 – £70 a month for doing nothing apart from knocking together a blog post occasionally and uploading it to my website. There are many sites like LinkLift. I believe one called “Text Link Ads” sells small text ads on your site and they split the revenue with you 50-50. The beauty of this is that once set up it’s totally passive all you need is to have a busy blog and if you follow my tips about marketing your blog then that is easily done.
2.)
An unusual income stream is donations. You can set up a payment button using PayPal and you would be surprised how many people will donate a few dollars as a thank you for a good informative blog post.
3.)
AdSense. All you need to do is sign up for a Google account, (it’s FREE), and then you can set up an AdSense account. This will put ads powered by Google on your website. They are always relevant to the topic of the website so be careful that they don’t advertise your competition – you can actually set up web addresses that you don’t want Google to use on your site so that is easily remedied.
You won’t get rich with AdSense but every little helps.
4.)
Affiliates. If you are blogging about a specific subject like photography for instance then it would make sense to affiliate to photography products. Most shop style websites have some kind of affiliate scheme and they are usually free to join. Affiliate Junction is a good place to search for companies to affiliate to.
Some affiliates perform well and some poorly. It is a case of trial and error I am afraid. One of my best affiliates is Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring system – really clever stuff.
5.)
Join a network marketing business that you can promote on your site and in your posts.
Because my target market is Network Marketers, (I like to get on stage in front of their team members to sell them the value of my Web Celeb Builder System), I can not be seen as competition to them so I can’t go down that route except for my little Aaachoo scheme, which is good fun and does earn me a nice income.
6.)
My favourite and probably the most consistent affiliate is “31 Days to Build a Better Blog” by Darren Rowse. I think that this is a success because it does what it says on the box. It certainly got me started on the right track. Daren Rowse is one of the best bloggers on the net, that’s my opinion anyway. He is a lovely, un-asuming guy from Australia who makes a serious amount of money from blogging.

Using your blog post to sell products.
It’s funny how a text ladenned front page of a website is said to be a “no no”. The reason for this is that you probably skim website content, you rarely read every word, yet if you came across a blog post that interests you then you are likely to take it all in, even referring to it later.
A great way to make money with your blog is to blog with a product in mind. This kind of blogging is becoming more and more popular.
A word of warning, the blog post should not be a blatant pitch, it must give enormous value too.
This is how it works.
OK, so you want to write a blog post that is built around selling one or more products, this could be an affiliate’s product, your own products or even joint ventures with others.
Whatever your product is, you need to be a bit of a wordsmith if you want to send the right message and make money with your efforts. In other words, you’ll need to learn how to sell in your blog post without the reader ever realising that they are being sold to.
Here are some key pointers.
What is the first thing you want people to do with your blog post?
You want them to read it!
So you need to write a great headline.
Which of these headlines are more powerful?
How to make money with your blog.
or
10 effective ways to turn your blog into a money making machine.
(A little tip here…people like lists…top 10 tips, 6 best ways, 5 reasons why, you know what I mean.)
The format of any blog post, article or even a book should be….one sentence so compelling that the reader wants to read the next one and so on and so on.
The backbone of the article or blog should be….an article consisting of many variations of the word “you”. You need to focus on the reader, they have to believe that they are going to get something valuable out of reading your blog.
The underlying strength of your article should be….your credibility, why you are the expert. You should try to mention proof of your credibility throughout the article and also in your signature.
Once you have made the reader feel at home and that they are important, you can then move onto your pitch.
Tips like this and more are available in The Blogger’s Bible.
Why not take a look at my Blogger’s Bible which, at the moment, is available for Free from this and the WebCelebBuilder website?

Looking back to when I lost loads of money with an MLM business….
I was so nieve, I really thought I knew it all!
I had a great Marketing Director’s position with a corporate company but I found myself frustrated with my fellow directors because they couldn’t see the importance of embracing social media as a marketing medium.
Many people had asked me to help them with their social media marketing and I realised that I had a gift and a passion for it. I made the decision to leave the company and go it alone.
I managed to earn a regular income by helping people with their online marketing. Then I started to pass on my expertise by blogging but I needed more.
I was sure that, with my expertise, I could be make easy money online.
I soon came unstuck. I fell for a “get rich quick” scheme in a network marketing company.
3 months and £3k later I had nothing to show for my investment except a lot of heart ache and an empty bank account
My downfall was not due to the business I chose nor the sponsor…it was my lack of knowledge!
I didn’t understand that to build a team you need to portray yourself in a certain way. You need to be seen as a leader and an expert. You also need to be someone with integrity and who can be trusted. You must be prepared to over deliver on everything and support your team 110%. And very important, you need to be seen…everywhere!
So I learned..I read every book, attended every seminar, joined every group until I was sure that I knew what to do to really make a success of a network marketing business.
Once I was confident I took a successful second leap into the network marketing world and what a roller coaster ride that was.
This time it was a different picture, I built my profile so much that I was Forbes listed as one of the top 30 women entrepreneurs to follow on Twitter..I have been interviewed on many radio stations and was chosen to be one of only 365 people, (one person for each day of the year), to be interviewed for The Get Inspired Project.
People now come to me to ask me to work with them.
I am not in the network marketing business any more, (except for a little, FREE to join, Social Networking company called Aaachoo where Networkers meet Networkers), because I am passionate about helping the people who have fallen into the same trap as I did.
I often ask Network Marketers to allow me to present my Web Celeb Builder System to their audience at their seminars and workshops. I want them to see what I have to offer, enormous value to their team and to themselves. I would not want them to see me as competition to them.
Remember this…when the big guys say that they are earning $30k a month, they are not lying but what what you don’t take into account is that they probably spend $20k a month on advertising, buying leads, adwords campaigns and call centres.
I am sure that when you started in the business, like me, you probably needed every penny of your money and to gamble investing $20k on advertising from the get co was not an option.
So, become a Web Celeb and people will follow you to the ends of the earth as long as you don’t let them down.

I hate chain letters but had to share this with you!
“A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o’clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.
His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.
As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window. I love it,’ he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
Mr. Jones, you haven’t seen the room; just wait.’
‘That doesn’t have anything to do with it,’ he replied.
Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time.
Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged … it’s how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it. ‘It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.
Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I’ve stored away.. Just for this time in my life.
Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you’ve put in.
So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories!
Thank you for your part in filling my Memory Bank. I am still depositing.
‘Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.
